"Who was killed in action?"
"Private Ed, and Private First Class Carter, sir."
"I see… What about the three wounded men?"
"Their arms were slashed but it's not life-threatening. It's already been treated."
"Then, with Kyle's squad as an escort, return the two casualties and three wounded to the Royal Capital by wagon. The rest of us will search the bandits' lair after interrogating the captured thief. There might be some citizens who are being held captive."
"Yes!"
Wayne walked up to Patrick with a dejected look on his face.
"Don't be so downhearted, Pat. Two casualties is pretty respectable for a battle involving that many men, right?"
"Wayne, I know, but still, I feel like I could have done a little better. I feel bad for the families of those two men."
Wayne patted Patrick on the shoulder with a bitter expression and headed back to his wagon.
The heads of all the bandits were chopped off and packed into the returning wagon. This was the so-called proof of their subjugation.
