About a month after the troll subjugation, I was resting behind a tree at the end of my training.
Because a pleasant breeze was blowing behind the tree just right.
"Second Lieutenant Patrick! The Battalion Commander has summoned you" —Wayne called out, his blond hair swaying.
"Summoned me? Huh, what did I do?"
"I don't know! All I was told was to call you."
And as we were talking,
"Second Lieutenant Patrick! The battalion commander demands your immediate presence, sir!" —Corporal Mirko came rushing over and informed me.
"The battalion commander knows you're hard to find, which is why he sent both of us out with the message." —Wayne said.
Corporal Mirko also smiled wryly.
"But I don't mean to hide-e."
I replied as I headed for the Battalion Commander.
"If he wasn't trying to hide, why would he bother to stay behind the tree?"
To Corporal Mirko's question, Wayne muttered— "If he moved with the intention of hiding, I'm not confident in my ability to find him."
"Main road sweeping?"
Patrick asked back.
"Uh-Huh! In ten days' time, His Royal Highness, the Prince, will be visiting the Marquees of Dixon's domain in the south for an inspection. Before that, I want you to clean up the bandits and monsters that are causing trouble. These are your orders!"
He handed a sheet of paper to Patrick.
